SUMMARY:An Ocean (Re)Introduction
LOCATION:MIT Museum
DESCRIPTION:Emmy Award-winning storyteller and explorer Richard Vevers invi
tes you to see the ocean in a completely new way. Best known for his work
on the Netflix documentary Chasing Coral and for pioneering Google Street
View underwater\, Vevers now leads Room 71 at the Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution\, an initiative transforming how we understand and communicat
e ocean science. In this talk\, Vevers challenges what we think we know ab
out the ocean. Drawing on insights from leading oceanographers and explore
rs\, he reveals how human perception often distorts our understanding of t
he vast and dynamic world beneath the surface. Through compelling stories
and imagery\, he reintroduces the ocean as it truly is—complex\, surpris
ing\, and deeply connected to our lives. You may never look at the ocean o
r our planet the same way again. A limited number of free tickets are avai
lable for full-time students with ID. Please reach out to museumregadmin@m
it.edu. This program is presented as part of the MIT Museum’s thematic f
ocus on OCEANS. Image courtesy of Richard Vevers.\n\nEvent page: https://w
