SUMMARY:What is Wealth Actually For?
DESCRIPTION:Can our economic lives be ordered toward genuine human flourish
ing—not simply greater material prosperity? Assessments of economic ineq
uality often rest on a narrow view of the person and human welfare. Octet
is inviting Mary Hirschfeld\, Associate Professor of Theology and Business
Ethics at Notre Dame\, to discuss how the demands of the market intersect
with the needs of whole persons in community. Dr. Hirschfeld holds a PhD
in Economics from Harvard University\, a PhD in Moral Theology from the Un
iversity of Notre Dame\, and is the author of Aquinas and the Market (Harv
ard University Press\, 2018). This event is invite-only for the MIT commun
ity. Interested in receiving an invitation? Email jherndon@mit.edu\n\nEven
