Box hangars in North Florida: what to know

A box hangar is a clear-span rectangle with the main door across one end wall. It can hold one aircraft or several, and the extra floor beside or behind the airplane often becomes a workshop, parts storage, an office or a pilot lounge. Sizing starts from the largest aircraft you plan to keep, adding room to tow it in and walk around it. The door choice then sets the end-wall framing, the height above the opening and the foundation along it. Many owners also add a walk door, windows on the office side and power for tools.
