How these buildings get planned
These are the buildings that go up beside a house or become one. Most start from the same handful of questions: what has to fit inside, which doors it comes through, and whether the slab and site work are part of the job or already done. A subdivision lot and ten acres outside town are different projects even for the same building. Deed restrictions, setbacks and the route a delivery truck takes all change what is practical, so each site below asks about the land as well as the building.

What to settle before the size.
A steel shell and a home ready to move into are different jobs. List the rooms, shop space and porch you want, then decide which parts you want included in the contractor's quote.
Open the siteMeasure the vehicles with mirrors out and doors open. Then add the bench, shelves and freezer. Those measurements are more useful than a guess at the overall building size.
Open the siteA machine's footprint is only part of the space it needs. Show where stock feeds in, where finished work goes and how you will reach the machine for maintenance.
Open the siteAsk for an itemized package list. A photograph of a finished building does not tell you whether its doors, insulation or installation are included in the kit price.
Open the siteSketch the mower, shelving and anything else that takes up floor space. Leave a route to the things you use most instead of filling every corner of the drawing.
Open the siteInclude roof accessories and the hitch. Show where you want to open storage compartments or extend a slide, and how you will back in or pull through.
Open the siteMark the parking positions and open the vehicle doors. Check the walk to the house and where a trailer will turn before placing the columns on the sketch.
