Fuel station canopies in North Florida: what to know

A fuel canopy has to clear delivery trucks and RVs, light the islands evenly at night and carry signage on its fascia, all on a handful of columns placed between the pumps. Columns are usually sized and located with the island layout, and many owners run the downspouts and power inside them so nothing is exposed to bumpers. The deck is often flat or low-slope with a perimeter fascia band, and the fascia height affects how the brand panels fit. Because the canopy sits in the middle of a commercial site, it is permitted and reviewed with the rest of the station.
