Live looping: one voice, many layers
Record a phrase, let it repeat, sing over it. How a song gets built in front of you.

Record, repeat, add
Live looping is simple to describe. You record a short phrase, it plays back in a loop, and you add the next phrase on top. Each layer stays until you take it away.
Start with rhythm or with a drone
Most loops begin with something steady: a pulse, a breath, a held note. A steady first layer gives everything after it somewhere to sit.
Leave room
The temptation is to keep adding. The better habit is to stop early. Three layers that can be heard are worth more than eight that blur.
Mistakes stay
Whatever you record comes round again, including the wobble. Performers learn to use it: a slip repeated four times starts to sound like a decision.
