Durham-area prices for a roof soft wash start around $249, with typical local quotes of $250 to $500. A Raleigh company lists $499 for a one-story roof and $625 for a two-story roof on its own, with $150 to $250 more for steep pitches. Roofs under heavy tree cover, such as on Hope Valley's wooded lots, stay damp and shaded, which is where the black streaks grow fastest. Soft washing kills the growth with a solution rather than blasting granules off the shingles. Ask how the provider protects plants below the gutters and keeps solution out of the street drains, and whether a roof wash can be bundled with a house wash, which usually lowers the combined price.
