How big should your metal shed be?

Title formatBody

Draw the mower and shelves inside the shed, then draw the route to the things at the back. Storage space is much less useful when you have to empty it to get one item out.

## Sort by how often things move

Group daily tools, weekly equipment and seasonal items. Place the frequent users near an understandable path to the door. Draw the mower or cart at its full dimensions, including attachments you normally leave fitted. Show shelving at its intended depth instead of marking it as a thin line against the wall.

Try the layout with the largest item leaving while everything else stays put. If that route is blocked, either change the arrangement or acknowledge that moving other items is part of the routine.

## Think about the threshold

Photograph the approach and note changes in ground level. Discuss how the door, floor and outside surface will work together for wheeled equipment. Ask the contractor to resolve that transition as part of the project instead of assuming you can add an improvised ramp later.

## Reserve space for handling

A work surface for repairs or potting uses more room than the table itself. Mark where you stand and where materials wait. If the shed will also become a hobby room, state that use in the project notes so the scope is discussed honestly.
