Sizing RV storage bays and drive aisles

Title formatBody

Use the longest vehicle you expect to store to test the route from the gate to a bay. Allow for the turns and hitching up as well as the parked dimensions.

## Define the vehicles you intend to serve

List representative motorhomes, trailers and tow-vehicle combinations using documented dimensions. Include roof accessories and the intended travel configuration. Keep any future larger-vehicle scenario separate so the designer can evaluate it deliberately.

For covered or enclosed bays, ask the supplier to show clear height and width between obstructions. Exterior building dimensions do not directly describe the vehicle envelope beneath the structure.

## Trace the entire visit

Draw the path through the gate, along the aisle, into the bay and back out. Consider a customer arriving while another is loading supplies nearby. Have the appropriate site and vehicle-movement professionals review the circulation rather than relying on a simple parked-vehicle diagram.

Mark posts, doors and equipment in relation to that path. A small change in their position can affect the concept, so they should not be omitted from an early layout.

## Compare operational options

Try back-in and pull-through arrangements where feasible. Record the land, access and building-scope differences without assuming one is always preferable. Decide what customer instructions and management routines each arrangement requires.
