Planning the taproom beside brewery production

Title formatBody

Draw the guest route and the production routes separately. Deliveries, stored supplies and staff work need room even when the taproom is full.

## Describe two journeys

First, follow a guest from arrival to ordering, seating and departure. Include companions, group visits and the kinds of events you intend to host. Note where guests should be able to see production and where the experience is focused on the taproom itself.

Next, follow staff through opening, service and closing. Include supplies arriving, stock moving, waste leaving and furniture being rearranged. The second drawing often reveals support space missing from the first.

## Decide what is shared

List spaces used by both sides of the business and explain how they will be managed. Storage is a common source of ambiguity: production supplies, retail items, event furniture and cleaning equipment all need an identified home.

Discuss sound, views and comfort goals with the design team. If guests need to talk comfortably while production continues, tell the designer and discuss how to separate the spaces.

## Test an event day

Lay out your largest intended event and a normal service day as separate scenarios. Mark where movable furniture goes when it is not in use. Record any outdoor connection and what happens if that area is unavailable.

Ask the contractor to separate the production building, public interior and equipment-related work in the scope. If you expect to open in phases, describe which activities must function in each phase and how remaining work will be managed.
