Separate sale stock from display-only work and pieces you are not ready to offer. Do not rush work just to reach a number.

Know what fits

Rehearse the actual table footprint. Decide what belongs on display and what stays in labeled backstock. Check the weight, carrying route and time you need to set up.

Try three assumptions

For an illustrative 40-piece assortment, 15%, 30% and 50% sell-through would mean 6, 12 and 20 sales. Those percentages are invented planning scenarios, not benchmarks or predictions. Replace them with assumptions that you can explain.

Ask what each scenario means

Compare each scenario with your included costs. If only a very strong day covers them, understand that exposure before committing. Unsold inventory is still work you must store and transport.

Let the first event create evidence

Record opening stock, sales by item code and closing stock. The next stock decision can then use your own results, while allowing for a different audience or venue.

Try the free project planner →

Audience research: first-time pottery sellers discussing preparation.
