What does crane-ready mean in a building quote?

Say whether the project includes an installed crane or provision for a future one. Give the building designer the lifting-system information so the quote is based on a defined requirement.

Describe the lift before the building

List what must move, where each item starts, where it finishes, and how often that movement happens. Include the largest planned workpiece and any awkward loading or assembly step. Distinguish a routine production lift from an occasional maintenance task.

If a crane supplier is involved, request its current layout and equipment information for the project team. Ask the supplier to identify rated capacity, span, duty classification and required hook height, using its own terminology and documents. Record the supplier, model status and drawing revision. Have the crane and building designers confirm how those figures apply to the intended lifting tasks; do not derive structural requirements yourself. If you have not chosen a crane, say so. Its requirements still need to be confirmed before the building design is settled.

Draw the full working route

On a simple plan, mark receiving, workstations and dispatch. Show where you expect lifting coverage and where you do not need it. Add doors, storage racks, people routes and equipment that may sit beneath or beside the lifting path.

Ask the team to explain which dimensions refer to the building and which describe usable crane operation. Avoid assuming that a listed wall height tells you the lifting clearance available throughout the room. The proposed equipment and building must be reviewed together.

Define what "future" means

A future crane note needs more than a checkbox. Identify the anticipated task, supplier assumptions and expected phase. Ask which provisions would be included now, what remains undecided, and what would require further design when the equipment is selected.

Request a written scope that assigns responsibility for the crane, supporting work, installation, power and commissioning. These packages may involve different parties, and a building-only proposal should be clearly distinguishable from a complete operating installation.
