How to play
Red joins the bottom and top edges, Blue the left and right. Take turns placing a stone on any empty cell; stones never move or leave. The first chain joining your two edges wins, and someone always does. Blue's first move may instead be a swap: Blue takes Red's opening stone and Red moves again.
Beside chess
Invented by Piet Hein and John Nash, who proved the first player wins with perfect play: a pure strategy game, like chess, with no draws at all.
Moves are written as the cells they touch: d4, e2e4, c3e5g7, or swap on Blue's first move.
