Properties

KeyValue
bodyLay a strip on a sheet of white paper under a lamp, or hold it to a window. Thin overall with clear shadows: under-exposed. Give more light next time. Nothing in the tank fixes it. Shadows fine, highlights weak and grey, and the whole strip low in contrast: under-developed. Add 15 to 20 percent to the time. Highlights so dense you can't read newsprint through them, with harsh contrast: over-developed. Cut the time by 15 to 20 percent. Dense everywhere, shadows included: over-exposed. It will print, with a longer exposure and more grain. A well-made negative looks a little flat and a little thin to a beginner's eye. You should be able to read text through its densest highlight. That's the negative that prints easily on a middle grade of paper.
