Properties

body | Stop. Pour in stop bath at working strength and agitate continuously for 10 to 30 seconds. Pour it back into its bottle; it can be reused.
Fix. Pour in rapid fixer diluted 1+4 and agitate as you did for the developer, for 2 to 5 minutes. Fresh fixer clears film quickly; as it's reused it slows. To test it, drop a scrap of undeveloped film leader into a little fixer and time how long it takes to turn clear. Fix for twice that. After fixing, you can open the tank.
Wash. Ilford's method uses very little water. Fill the tank with water at about the same temperature, invert it five times and drain. Fill again, invert ten times, drain. Fill a third time, invert twenty times, drain.
Final rinse. Fill once more with water and a few drops of wetting agent, lift the reel up and down gently a few times, and leave it for thirty seconds. Don't shake it into foam. |
