IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File
Every organization the IRS currently recognizes as tax-exempt (about 1.9M), one CSV per state: EIN, name, street address, 501(c) subsection, foundation code, ruling date, asset / income / revenue amounts and NTEE activity code. US public domain (IRS SOI publication); a plain HTTPS download with no key and no published rate limit, refreshed monthly, so the file_get cache (24 h) downloads each state at most once a day. read is Vermont (6,566 rows on 2026-10-01); state_file reads any other by params.state, the lowercase two-letter code (eo_ca.csv is 35 MB), plus pr (Puerto Rico) and xx (international). The regional files eo1-eo4.csv are not wired: eo3.csv is 165 MB, past the 128 MiB artifact egress cap. The in-care-of (ICO) column names a person and is deliberately not read.
